CA – DCU Signing

Marv Wolfman, Rob Liefeld, Sterling Gates, and JT Krul sign on Wednesday, September 21 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

RSVP on Facebook!

Press Release:

On Wednesday September 21st, Collector’s Paradise Comics & Gallery would love to invite you to our beautiful new Pasadena store, for a signing of all signings, to commemorate release of several new exciting titles from the DC NEW 52 Relaunch and the TEEN TITANS GAMES HC. From 6pm to 8pm, we are proud to host four FANTASTIC Creators and great friends of the stores, and showcase their new books for all of you who can make it to t…he event:

ROB LIEFELD – Rob Liefeld had childhood dream to draw comic books. As a teenager, he fulfilled that dream and began working for Marvel Comics X-men titles and introducing the world to Deadpool, Cable and X-Force! In 1992 Rob, with his other artist friends, launched Image Comics with the debt of the popular Youngblood franchise. This year, Rob launched THE INFINITE with co-creator and writer Robert Kirkman, and is now returning to HAWK & DOVE with Sterling Gates as part of DC’s NEW 52 Relaunch.

STERLING GATES started at DC comics writing a couple of short Green Lantern stories, which led to a stint on Green Lantern Corps, and then a regular gig on Supergirl. With DC’s new relaunch, Gates is taking over the reigns of HAWK & DOVE.

JT KRUL – already a huge store favorite at Collector’s Paradise, JT’s meteoric rise to fame in the last couple of years has been fantastic to watch. Starting out at Aspen Comics where he took over writing of Fathom & Soulfire after Michael Turner’s untimely death, JT’s writing got noticed by DC Comics, who, after a few one shots and small assignments, gave JT his biggest break, relaunching Green Arrow and taking over Teen Titans. With DC’s relaunch, JT adds Captain Atom to his Green Arrow assignment.

We are also SUPER PROUD to host, for the first time in Pasadena, our dear friend, a Comic Book Industry LEGEND, Marv Wolfman, to commemorate release of his instant Classic Hardcover Graphic Novel – “Teen Titans: Games”, drawn by George Perez. Marv is a true legend of our industry, the writer of Crisis of Infinite Earth, co-creator or creator of a huge amount of most popular comic book characters, including : Teen Titans (with George Perez), Black Cat, Blade, Nova, Nightwing, Deathstroke, Bullseye and countless others.

Z-Trip Performs at NYCC 2011

Press Release:

Widely considered to be  one of the best live performance DJs in history and the “godfather of mash-ups”,  noted artist Z-Trip will provide a free evening of entertainment on Thursday, October 13 at 7:30pm for New York Comic Con (NYCC) attendees in the IGN Theater  – Presented by Sprint at the Javits Center in New York City.  The concert will be an opening night  celebration providing music and entertainment for the thousands of fans who will  be gathering for this year’s edition of New
York Comic Con.  The annual pop culture event, which  attracts top talent and major artists from all areas of the pop culture universe  including film, television, music, books, and gaming will take place October 13  – 16, 2011 at the Javits Center.

The opening night  concert is free to all VIP’s and 4-Day ticket holders thanks to the generosity  of Sprint’s sponsorship BUT seating is first come, first  served and will be extremely limited due to size of the auditorium and  popularity of the event. All VIP ticket holders will be guaranteed to get into  the show first; then, 4-Day ticket holders will be let in until the auditorium  is full; the concert is open to all 4-Day ticket holders on a first come, first served basis and  we cannot guarantee that all 4-Day ticket holders that want to attend the show  will be able to get in! Fans who are interested in attending the opening night  concert are encouraged to purchase a 4 Day ticket to NYCC and arrive early to  secure their spot in line.

Meanwhile, show  organizers have just announced that the exhibit floor for this year’s NYCC is  sold out! Tickets for NYCC are now on sale via the website.  Or you can go directly to the Z-Trip  newsletter link.

“This is the first time  that we have kicked off New York Comic Con with an official evening of  entertainment and I know that we will have a packed house,” notes Lance  Fensterman, Group Vice President for ReedPOP and Show Manager for NYCC.  “We aim to deliver to our fans killer  content from all strains of popular culture, and in Z-Trip we could not ask for  a better
alchemist to mash up all of those strains of pop culture and deliver a  mind blowing kick off to New York Comic Con.  And a special thanks to our concert sponsor Sprint which made this ground breaking concert at New York Comic Con possible!”

Z-Trip is considered to  be one of the best live performance DJs in history, by both fans and peers.  Fans voted him “America’s Best DJ” in  2009, beating out over 100 other DJ’s in DJ’s Times highly acclaimed readers’  poll. It’s a fact that many call  him the “godfather of mash-ups”, as he is one of the originators of the  genre.  His worldwide sold out shows  continue to set attendance records while drawing critical praise.  “One of the great musical moments from  Coachella (2002) was the frenzied set by turntable wizard Z-Trip.  He had fans howling and bobbing, closing  his set with a surprise appearance by Beck.” – LA Times.  The LA Times review was well deserved as  Z-Trip performed to a jam packed tent of over 10,000 that day. He has crisscrossed the  globe numerous times since Coachella 2002, chalking up tons of rave reviews  along the way.  He returned to  Coachella 2010, for his 4th appearance at the festival headlining the  Sahara Tent “Even against two of the biggest draws on the schedule, Z-Trip raked  ‘em in, filling the Sahara with over 15,000 revelers.” – Daily News.  His recent Detroit Electronic Music  Festival performance to over 10,000 stole the festival receiving the lion’s  share of press; “Z-Trip lit up Saturday night, first by jamming with RJD2 then  following with a Detroit-saluting mash-up set.” – Billboard 2009.  Most Friday nights you can find him at  his new residency at Rain inside The Palms, Las Vegas.  Entitled “Z-Trip’s Revolution”, he has thrilled crowds there with his genre bending skills and surprise guests including Too Short, De La Soul, Rev Run and Three 6 Mafia. Worldwide sold out  shows would be enough for most DJs, but not Z-Trip. Please do not call him a celebrity  DJ.  His career is too full of  impressive producer/artist milestones for that.  In 2009, Z-Trip appeared as an in game  character in DJ Hero; for which he also supplied several original remixes and  songs.  In 2009 “Victory Lap”, his  last album, did over 500,000 copies.  “Victory Lap” (his homage to Obama) was reviewed favorably and recommended by Wired, Urb, BPM, and  XLR8R to name a few.  Z-Trip’s longtime friend and  collaborator Shepard Fairey supplied the art. Z-Trip’s major label  debut “Shifting Gears” was given 4 stars by Rolling Stone – its highest honor in  2005. “Shifting Gears” featured Top 10 singles in the U.S. and abroad.  With appearances from many of Z-Trip’s  friends including Chuck D, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, Murs and Soup of Jurassic 5.

“Uneasy Listening was  his first record to receive critical acclaim and helped propel Z-Trip to  national attention in 2002.   It made Album of the Year lists in Spin, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly,  Wired and XLR8R.

ReedPOP is a  boutique group within Reed Exhibitions which is exclusively devoted to  organizing events, launching and acquiring new shows, and partnering with  premium brands in the pop culture arena.  ReedPOP is dedicated to producing celebrations of popular culture  throughout the world that transcend ordinary events by providing unique access  and dynamic
